About russell collins pottery hook norton

Born and educated in London, Russell then trained as a teacher in Chichester, West Sussex. He studied Geography and Divinity, however, an introduction to pottery sparked a passion that would last a lifetime.

Acceptance on a "Ground-Breaking" Harrow Art School Pottery Course, paved the way for invitations to lecture on this course and at other prestigeous Art Schools, which he undertook for over 25 years.

It was during this time (1967) that he established his first studio in Oxforshire, moving to larger premises in 1978. The Pottery became known for both domestic and individual pieces which were sold and exhibited in major shops and galleries throughout the UK.

Due to high demand, a large catering range was developed and produced. This range became very successful and gained a world-wide reputation enabling the pottery to become firmly established.  This range was used by leading hotels, restaurants, airports and throughout the UK and eventually world-wide.

Most recently the need to downsize and the move to a smaller, oak framed, eco-friendly house and studio in the Cotswolds was completed in 2012. The new premises allowed Russell to concerntrate and develop individual pieces for private clients, galleries, museums and exhibitions.

Russell now has the freedom to explore new themes and to see through the development of new ideas. All of Russell's work is reduction fired to 1300c. It is safe for domestic use and has no metal release. The clay and glazes have been tested and certified by the British Ceramic Research Association.
